Kwame Boakye is a current undergraduate student at the University of Houston. Kwame is a major in biotechnology with a minor in Health. He plans on pursuing a master’s in biotechnology after graduating in December. Kwame currently works as a research assistant at the Crawford lab, where he helps several professors and PHD candidates conduct research in the ecology fields. Outside of schoolwork, he takes pride in volunteering and helping out his community. As a result, Kwame is part of numerous organizations including: MEDLIFE, UNICEF, NSCS, ASU, Serviam, GCC Youth and CSO. These organizations have helped him meet the faces of our community and the people they serve through their organized events. His love for our environment is a result of his upbringing in Ghana. Growing up in Ghana gave him great insight of the degradation of our environment and the wildlife in it. However, it also motivated him to be an agent of change, to advocate and spread awareness in hope to reverse the damage, restore and improve the current state of our environment. As a WYSE alumnus, Kwame hopes to share his experiences both as a delegate and a JFA with this year’s WYSE participants!
