Threats to the biodiversity of our environment are ever-evolving. To counter these threats and protect our endangered species, the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (SCBI) and George Mason University established the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation (SMSC).

GMU’s Department of Computer Science is the top-ranked CS department in Virginia by csrankings.org. We offer MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science, an MS degree in Software Engineering, and a Computing Foundations bridge certificate for those. We also offer a bridge certificate for those wishing to pursue our MS degrees but who do not have an undergraduate background in Computer Science.

The Philosophy Department offers an MA for students who are interested in the history of philosophy or in applied ethics. FOCUSING ON THE INTERSECTIONS: Women and Gender Studies combines research, teaching, and activism, with a focus on the intersections of sex, gender, race, class, sexuality, and power in preparation for careers in education, public service, community organizing, and more. We offer an MAIS with a concentration in Women and Gender Studies as well as a Graduate Certificate that can be taken fully online, in person, or a combination of both.
