Virginia State University

Founded in 1882, Virginia State University is one of Virginia’s two land-grant institutions and is located 20 minutes south of Richmond in the village of Ettrick. With a student population of approximately 4,000, the University sits atop a rolling landscape overlooking the Appomattox River with expansive views of Petersburg. Our 236-acre campus features academic environments within six colleges offering 36 undergraduate degree programs 16 graduate degree programs two doctoral degree programs and eight certificate programs. Virginia State University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate master’s and doctorate degrees.
