Virginia Tech is a comprehensive four-year public university with over 25,000 undergraduate students who choose from over 100 majors in eight colleges: the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, the College of Science, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, the College of Engineering, the Pamplin College of Business, the College of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. Virginia Tech competes at the NCAA Division I level and is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. There are over 900 student clubs and organizations on campus. Academic opportunities include the Honors College Cooperative Education and Study Abroad. The campus is located 38 miles southwest of Roanoke Va. on a plateau between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains where students are surrounded by many recreational opportunities.
